Product Overview:
RB Textile Inks are rubber based, waterborne PVC free inks that simulate plastisol inks in hand and opacity. They are tough, high permanence printing inks that can be used for coatings or screen printing on textiles. They can also be used on substrates such as wood, plastic, metal, concrete, paper, rubber, and leather. They produce a flexible, glossy, high opacity coating. Rubber base inks can be cleaned up with and thinned with plain water.
Printing:
For best results, flood the image and print using a sharp 70 durometer squeegee. A 60 durometer squeegee may be used when a very heavy deposit is required. 110-200 TPI (43-78 TPcm) screens stretched to a minimum of 25 newtons are recommended. For smoothest deposit use 160 TPI (62 TPcm) mesh or higher. Coarse meshes are recommended for a thicker ink deposit. Heavy fleece may require a thicker deposit. Remember to finish your print with a flood stroke. This will help keep the image area from drying out.
Stencil:
Use any water resistant direct emulsion or capillary film.
Additives:
All RB Inks are ready to print. If needed, add RR-100 Reducer/Retarder at 5%-10% by weight to slow down the air drying process. You may also use RB-1000 clear to extend your inks if needed. Water may also be used, but will cause wicking of the final print if too much is added – test for proper ratio.
Flashing:
Parameters vary between all flash units. Flash for 3-5 seconds with the ink deposit reaching 150-250°F (65-121°C).
Curing:
This ink will air dry to a full cure in 24 hours. The ink will dry to the touch in 45-60 min. The ink can be cured at 300°F (149°C) for 60-90 seconds, 250°F (121°C) for 2-3 minutes and 200°F (93°C) for 3-4 minutes.
Cleanup:
Use any of the commercially available products for the cleanup of rubber base inks. Warm water and soap works as well.
Environmentally Friendly:
QCMs rubber base inks contain no leaded pigments and, when properly disposed of, has no environmental impact. Use water emulsifying screen cleaners for cleanup. Scrape screens carefully and store ink for reuse.
